How to Enable Location Permission on Your Phone – Android, iOS & Harmony OS

Ordering from a QR menu at a restaurant or café is becoming increasingly common. But sometimes your screen shows a "Location Permission Required" message and you're not sure what to do. Below are step-by-step instructions for each phone type.

Why does it ask for my location?

Businesses using Menulu.com verify that orders are placed at the table, not remotely. Your location is never stored — it's used once to confirm you're present, then discarded.

🤖 If You're Using an Android Phone

Google Chrome (Android)

  1. Tap the lock icon to the left of the address bar.
  2. Select "Permissions" or "Site settings".
  3. Find "Location" and set it to "Allow".
  4. Reload the page and try ordering again.

Samsung Internet

  1. Tap the three lines (☰) icon at the bottom.
  2. Go to Settings → Sites and downloads → Site permissions.
  3. Find the site or go to "Location" and turn it on.

Phone-wide location off? Check: Settings → Location → turn On.

🍎 If You're Using an iPhone or iPad (iOS)

Safari (default iOS browser)

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap "Safari".
  3. Find "Location" and set it to "Allow While Using App" or "Ask".
  4. Return to the browser, reload, and tap "Allow" when prompted.

Google Chrome (iOS)

  1. Go to Settings → Chrome → Location.
  2. Select "Allow While Using App".
  3. Return to Chrome and reload the page.

Location Services off? Check: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → On.

📱 If You're Using a Huawei Phone (Harmony OS / EMUI)

Huawei Browser

  1. Tap the three dots (⋮) menu in the browser.
  2. Go to Settings → Site permissions → Location.
  3. Find the site and set location to "Allow".

Google Chrome (Huawei)

If Chrome is installed, follow the same Android Chrome steps above.

System-wide location: Settings → Location Access → On.

Still not working?

  • Close and reopen your browser completely.
  • Make sure Wi-Fi or mobile data is active.
  • In a basement or thick-walled building? GPS may be weak — move closer to a window.
  • Still stuck? Let your server know — they can take your order another way.

Your privacy matters

On Menulu.com, your location is never saved. It's used once in real time to confirm you're at the venue — then it's gone. Not stored, not shared.

Enjoy your meal!
